Imagine Cup 2007
Hull also won the UK heat of the Microsoft Imagine Cup in 2007. Their team, "The Seedlings" was made up of MEng students and went to Seoul in Korea for the world finals.

The seedlings getting their UK prize.
The team was mentored by Rob Hogg, an industrial mentor who is the Managing Director of software company Black Marble. Rob Miles also went along to the world finals as a competition judge. You can read about his adventures in his blog starting here.
Pow Wow
After winning the UK round of the Imagine Cup earlier this year Hull Team "3 Pair" are now working away on their project for the world finals. Keven and Mark from Microsoft came up to see us to see how things were going.

What happens when the photographer shouts "Look Thoughtful"
Picture above are, from left to right, Tom, James, Andy and Kevin. At the back you can see all the planning and development milestones. They are taking the whole thing very seriously…..
The department has set up an "Imagine Cup" lab and the students are using this as their base. If the team wins the worldwide competition in Delhi in August we will make the name change permanent! You can find out more about how things are going at the Imagine Cup blog on the register:

Imagine those HP Laptops
There was something of a surprise in store for team 3-Pair when they were asked to meet up with the head of the department for a "status report". Instead of having to deliver something, they were instead presented with a shiny new laptop each, which were supplied by Hewlett Packard, an Imagine Cup sponsor and shipped up to Hull by Microsoft with ribbons and bows included.
Warren Viant hands over the hardware to our lucky lads. We hope that they put them to good use.....
The Hull Posse
We have just received the pictures taken by the official Microsoft photographer. This is the entire Hull posse.
You can click on it for the Flickr page and a larger version. An Imagine Cup gallery is being prepared.
Hitting the Presses
The press interest in our success continues. We have now hit The Register, a web site for software developers, and also the BBC News site.
Fame at last!
